Chalet Access
Walk up a 10 meter stairway to our chalets. Each step brings you closer to the best view of any Mürren apartment rental across the Lauterbrunnen Valley to the Jungfrau Massif. Your vacation home is beautifully located in a quiet setting near a stream where Chamois visit daily from the adjacent wildlife preserve. Note: 1) Because we are so close to this preserve, we cannot welcome dogs and cats to our chalets at any time. 2) The stairway prevents access to the physically challenged.
The Neighborhood
Chalet Alta and Chalet Snowbird are named after two famous ski resorts in Utah, in the Western US. What you will enjoy about our chalet neighborhood is the convenient location to the BLM train station, and the bars and restaurants in the nearby Hotel Alpenblick, Hotel Eiger and Eiger Guest House and the popular Tächi Bar. You will appreciate the 10 m vertical offset provided by the stair leading to the main road to get the privacy and dominant view of the chalet. You can store skis, snowboards, sleds, carts and other items in the upper floor of the historic wood building by the road, where you will find a large locker area. From this unique staging area, you can mobilize daily arrivals and departures to and from the village and from skiing/ hiking excursions to the Jungfrau Region covered by a combined rail/lift pass.
Getting around
Because Mürren is car free, you can walk peacefully from our north end to the south end of the village in 10-15 minutes. There is no public transit; however, in winter you can ski and sled on the snow-covered village road. Should you need transportation for arrival/departure or other reasons, you can call a small Mürren taxi.
Of interest
The chalets, from International Homes of Cedar (www.ihoc.com), were erected in 2011 and 2012 largely by helicopter. They are adjacent to summer hiking trails and winter ski runs. They offer easy access to the entire Jungfrau Region Railway skiing and hiking domains via the nearby BLM station and to the Schilthorn lift system in the winter via the intermediate Winteregg lift. During ski season, the site offers direct return ski access via the Palace Run to Mürren.
The Village
Mürren is a typical Swiss mountain village located in the Bernese Alps 45 minutes outside the beautiful city of Interlaken. Perched on top of a 800 meter cliff, it is located at 1650 meters above sea level. The population of 400 is happy to be up in the sunshine, above the clouds and haze! Winter in the Jungfrau Region offers 213 km of ski runs while summer offers ~500 km of hiking trails. World famous scenery, hiking and skiing are at your doorstep. The village has many stores, including the COOP grocery store, and gourmet restaurants, the closest of which is only a two minute walk from our chalets. Even young children love Mürren. They will find several great playgrounds here where they can meet and play with other children, lucky to be up in the Alps. - If you want spacious, quiet, private, cozy and spectacular, this place is for you, with a Peace you’ve never before experienced.
The Chalets
Chalet Alta, the higher of the two, has one apartment that sleeps 4 people.
Chalet Snowbird has two apartments and a studio for rent:
- The Upper Snowbird Apartment which sleeps 5
- The Lower Snowbird Apartment which sleeps 4
- The Studio with Loft (Bear Studio), sleeps 4
The three main apartments each feature nicely furnished spacious living rooms and dining areas with wood burning stoves and radiant floor heating. They offer king bedded Master Bedrooms and walk in closets leading to modern bathrooms with bathtubs. The spiffy, fully equipped modern kitchens have granite counter tops, dishwashers, four burner glass- topped stoves and ovens. The large refrigerators each have a freezer. Each has a granite bar area with 3 bar stools.
The upper floors of both chalets have spacious vaulted open beam wood ceilings with handsome beams of Douglas Fir. Large windows look across the spectacular Lauterbrunnen Valley with its 72 waterfalls to the awesome North Face of the Eiger, the Mönch and the Jungfrau.
At our site the view angle to those peaks is optimal. When you tire of gazing at the ever changing views, there are wall mounted TVs with free cable for your use. We also provide free Wi-Fi.Feel free to consult the descriptions of the individual apartments and studios on this website to help decide which one best suits your needs. Once you have confirmed/ prepaid your apartment, you will receive more information and the key code for your entry door. There will be a Chalet Manual in your apartment. The apartments can be rented for a minimum of three nights, or by the week, the month or the season. During the February high season and the holidays, there is a 7 night Saturday-Saturday minimum.
