Getting To Mürren

You cannot access Mürren by automobile! Thank God.

If you elected to travel by the Swiss Railways you will have changed trains at Interlaken Ost and simply change at the Lauterbrunnen train station.

  1. murrenTake the BLM aerial tram/train from Lauterbrunnen into Mürren. If you travel by automobile, you have 2 practical parking options at Lauterbrunnen. Stop at Lauterbrunnen. (look for a PARKHAUS sign located just ahead of the Lauterbrunnen. The Parkhaus is integrated with the train station. Park there and proceed as described under a). Stop at the Village of Lauterbrunnen. Since the train station area is often congested you can drop your luggage at the BLM train station and continue to the apex of the village road, looking for the church lot, and park there. Alternatively, Stop at Stechelberg.
  2. Take the Schilthorn aerial tramway. It is the alternate access to Mürren. The Schilthornbahn is a 2-stage aerial tram via Gimmelwald to Mürren. When arriving at Mürren via Stechelberg, you end up at the wrong end of town. No problem, walk for 10 minutes through the village (or hire a taxi). This is why we recommend using Lauterbrunnen and transfer at the BLM station.
